It's time for the next American Ninja Warrior...training camp!

If you asked me of the one thing I admire of the current first lady ( Mrs. Obama), it would be her Let's Move campaign. It seems like more and more playgrounds at the local parks have gotten geared towards physicality and movement.
If you ask of one family friendly tv show that everyone sits down and watches together. In our household it's American Ninja Warrior. Not only do I admire the competitors, It's a bit of nostalgia for me...nostalgia of my uncle Lori's house. The two weeks I spent , in summer school admittedly, at his house because summer school wasn't offered in my school district. I would spend 4 hours a day going over material I knew in a classroom of other slackers..then my evenings would be spent around a kitchen table with my cousin going over materials again and then eating dinner while watching Sasuke. It was actually a very good summer for me.
My son loves American Ninja Warrior because he knows it's a game and that you don't want to "fall in the water", and my husband likes the show because I do..and I think he's also a little envious of others strength.
Going to local parks is one of my favorite pastimes and when my son was in speech therapy he had a school next door to a park that was being renovated. They finally opened it back up to the public at the end of last year and now he's all about "not falling in the water. I have to admit that it's awesome and I wish that I could play with him more. I have yet to lose more than 1 lb. putting me morbidly obese for my height but I am more active now and I know that I'm eating healthier so I'm not stressing as much  and I will be able to do more than just walk around taking pictures afraid ill break a rope. I did play with him just not as much as I'd like.

We saw a Narwals Horn!!

For years, it had been on my list of things to do : Visit the Museum of Osteology. A bone museum? Sounds freakin' awesome! Deciding to home school actually allows more of my list to be accomplished than I'd realized. Looking back on my life. I'll have documented proof. Even in this poorly written blog that I have pretty much kept as a journal.

My life has been better with my husband and son in it. We were able to compare skulls of primates to human anatomy, see what Giraffe bones look like, and (little man's favorite part) see how big a whale actually is.
It wasn't a very large museum but the layout and the information was all there and wonderful.  A former Bill Nye the Science Guy dream come true. I
Another thing to happily mark off my list!

Zoo Days!

At times, it's easy to question why I want to go to places like the Zoo. It's not as if I'm actually comfortable with the animals living in such a small environment for our amusement. Other times, I am glad my son has the ability to be hands on with nature and see the animals I would never be comfortable taking him to see in the wild.

Then,we get memories of our son getting to feed the Giraffe. Seeing him fearless in the face of the giant animal. One day I hope to be as fearless. Sometimes, we go with other children for socialization and other times it's just our small family.  Not quite comfortable enough for a membership. It's definitely worth the memories though.

A day at the lake.

It's been almost 5 years since I've actually spent a day at the lake. As a child, lake memories were some of my favorites. Learning how to water ski, going tubing, and playing board games at Uncle Gene's lake cabin until midnight with my cousins. It's something I've greatly missed since leaving my small town life and moving to the "Big city". My true regret is that my son hadn't ever been to a lake and swam in dirty water.
My Husband has very little family and he decided that we should spend time with them in Tulsa. It was a great idea. We decided to turn it into a lake day and go out on the boat with the kids. We all had a blast  and my son got to do something new. For the past week he's been walking around saying "We went on boat with Ben" .

A few things weren't relived, such as, water ski, board games, and jumping off the "big pole".  Those things weren't possible to recreate without being at the right lake.

But new things for Dresdyn were accomplished. He went tubing for the first time. Went swimming and go mud all in his hair. Jumped off a boat for the first time.

I can't remember the first times I did those things. I know I was very younger. Possibly younger than the 3.5 years my son is. I do remember learning to swim in a lake, having great times with my family, paddle boating, learning to ski, and board games. Family time was extremely important to me then and it is now.

Maybe I'm not the best daughter. I have horrible relationships with my family of the present. I haven't even seen most of them since I graduated high school. My son will hopefully have that bond with his family that I did as a child. It's a dream of mine...and even if it does turn out to be a dream. At least we'll have days like this to remember.

Getting married

I always thought this was something I was never going to do. Mostly because gathering my family all in one place sounds like a bad idea and my religious views have changed and having a secular wedding would have offended everyone. It did happen though. Two years ago. I got married to a man who loves me very much. We had 4 people there. The witnesses that are required and our friend, who happens to be an ordained minister. No family and very few friends. I was a little nervous because I did take his last name and I miss having my unique last name and I am always scared of change. It's been great though. We got custody of our little man. I've decided to home school him and am very close to a 1950's housewife. Complete with nightcaps. It's not the life for everyone but it's perfect for me and my husband supports me in whatever I want to try and I try to support him.

" I love you, mama."

It's interesting to see some of the things on my list that I have accomplished in my life. Hearing my son tell me I love you is one of the most heart warming things to hear and it seems as though, throughout life and as he matures it shall change. I'm loving it for now though.

Geo Caching Adventures Go!

I convinced my boyfriend yet again to help me do a thing on my list of a million things to do . It was the worldwide Geocaching scavenger hunt. Only we decided to walk seeing as there were quite a few in our local area, our local area ended up taking us on a 3 mile walk. with a stop at Walgreens and Mcdonalds for the baby in the stroller.
When I say Mcdonalds, I don't mean he got a kids meal. I mean the 3 of us shared a 10 piece and fries. Dresdyn eats what I do so I don't feel bad letting him indulge when I do, although I don't go overboard. Mostly we went to play in there playplace so he could grab some social interaction. We ended up finding only 2 of the 3 that we were looking for but we ended up getting a wonderful exercise out of it.
